The (new) madness of the ANC Youth League
What do the leaders of the ANC kindergarten imbibe? I really have to ask. Sometimes when members of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) speak you begin to wonder: do they sip different water to the good old Jo’burg supply the rest of us get? I mean, something has to be seriously wrong for an organisation of young people to be so consistently wrong on so many counts.Last weekend, the league emerged from a meeting to declare that public protector Thuli Madonsela is an agent of the CIA . No proof was proffered for this calumny. The league’s 36-year-old president, Collen "Oros" Maine felt like hogging headlines, so he spewed it out.The last time someone said exactly this sort of thing it was the man who leads the ANC’s MK Military Veterans’ Association, Kebby Maphatsoe.Maphatsoe is the man who deserted from Umkhonto weSizwe, yet leads the peace-time equivalent of that organisation.
