DA FINANCE spokesperson David Maynier has no right to ask him to resign, Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane said in the National Assembly on Wednesday. Zwane was responding to an urgent question by Maynier as to why he would not resign, after his controversial statement about banks last week. In the statement, Zwane said the Cabinet had resolved to establish a judicial commission of inquiry into the decision by banks to terminate their relationships with Gupta-owned company Oakbay Investments. Zwane’s statement was quickly repudiated by the Presidency, which said it did not reflect the view of the Cabinet. On Wednesday, the minister said the matter lay with the Cabinet, not Parliament, and that Maynier had no jurisdiction to ask him the question.
