INCHANGA township — scene of two suspected political murders — was tense but calm on Thursday.However, security police assessors warned against proceeding with the planned joint memorial services of South African Communist Party Inchanga secretary Nontsikelelo Blose, who was gunned down on Sunday, and ANC activist Xolani Ngcobo, who was shot and stoned on Monday morning. Ngcobo was killed in what is believed to have been retaliation for Blose’s murder.The memorial service was due to take place in Inchanga’s main community hall, located about 50km west of Durban, but was postponed for fear of violence breaking out.Two men have appeared in the Camperdown Magistrate's Court on charges of killing Blose on Wednesday.
