Towns and cities are festooned with ill-conceived political logos for the general election
In the run-up to the 2019 general election I wrote a couple of columns about some of the more intriguing, bizarre or tasteless logos representing political parties on the ballot paper — based on the premise that these designs are, albeit fleetingly, prominent and even influential works in SA’s visual arts landscape.
Readers, shall we make this a tradition? It’s election month, after all, and there many parties are boasting ill-conceived logos. Consider this a modest gesture of public service. I’ll do the same in 2029, assuming that things such as multiparty democracy and newspaper columnists still exist...
